World Cup Rail Fares Remain Excessive at $98 Round-Trip; City Club Calls for Transparency and Rider Protections

New Jersey officials have announced a round-trip rail fare of $98 to MetLife Stadium for the World Cup, supported by private partners rather than taxpayers. While this is an improvement over the originally proposed price, the fare remains more than seven times the normal cost of the same trip and does not resolve deeper questions about how costs will be allocated or how everyday riders will be protected during eight matchdays.
